Chris grew up in Milwaukee then moved to Los Angeles in the 60s to pursue a music career. When he relocated to New Orleans in 1982 to further his music as a singer/songwriter, he also gained experience in recording (for many years owned Say Yes Recording Studio), band management, audio engineering, and production, as well as playing with many of the local New Orleans bands.  He has performed while touring throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan. Chris plays blues, funk, rock and stylistic roots music flavored with influences from great guitarists of the past and present including Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, The Kings, and Mark Knopfler.

Experience

Chris’ experience as a seasoned guitar/slide guitar/bass player began in L.A where he performed with Ike and Tina Turner and Michael Martin Murphy at The Whiskey A Go-Go, Gazzari’s and Thelma’s, and opened for The Doors. After settling in New Orleans, he found a place within the music community and played and toured with George Porter and the Running Partners, Marva Wright, C.J. Chenier, Rockin Dopsie, Joe Houston, Earl King, as well as his own band, Chris Polacek and the Flying Palmettos. His current band is the Hubcap Kings and he also plays with other local bands including Short Street, Oogum Boogum, and the Kenny Triche Band.
